Employment and Industrial Relations

We have considerable experience in advising on a vast range of complex issues from the perspective of both the Employer and the Employee.

In the current climate employees are being placed under increasing pressure to perform their duties and are finding it more difficult to hold onto their employment.  The manner in which  employers deal with issues within the workplace does not always comply with the correct legal procedure.

Therefore in the event that redundancy or dismissal occurs, areas of redress must be examined.  There are also increasing issues to be considered from the point of view of an employer in drafting contracts and to consider the differences between a contract for services and a contract of service, each of which must be tax compliant.

From the point of view of the employee/contractor, advice must be given before entering into a contract to ensure that it protects the employee/contractor.

The areas in which we have dealt with include the following:

  • Termination of employment
  • Employment equality/discrimination
  • Bullying and harassment in the workplace
  • Health and safety issues
  • Protective leave
  • Employment contracts / Staff handbooks
  • Executive service contracts
  • Transfer of undertakings
  • Trade disputes
  • Employee pensions and benefits
